I need not occupy time in the recital of instances of admitted and accepted true thought transference. I shall content myself by passing at onceT to the consideration of current hvpotheses, and to what I consider a rational explanation of the phenomenon. The time at my disposal will not permit me to amplify the central idea, or to elaborately treat many of the analogical arguments which must needs be introduced, therefore I shall content myself with outlining, rather, than in exhaustively discussing the fundamental proposition, leaving its further elucidation to the criticisms of this paper. If in this performance the discussion shall occasionally take an excursion into the region of the abstruse, I can only hope that the innate dignity of the inquiry will warrant the attention which I invoke for its consideration. True thought transference is the reproduction of the state a of brain A in brain B without the intermediation of signs be these auditive, visual olfactive or tactual. Should it be elicited that eitherof these signs was operative in thought transference it would be apparent, not true transference. Sundry sonorous hypotheses and divers theories have been advanced as explanative of suggestion and the transference of thought.
